On Friday, July 30 at 5pm, the public is invited to tune in to Facebook live and celebrate the name reveal of the two endangered piping plover chicks that hatched and were successfully raised on Montrose Beach this summer.

Names for the chicks were solicited from Chicagoland residents and then selected from the submissions by a committee.

Live on the beach will be representatives from the many partner organizations behind the Chicago Piping Plovers Team as well as members of the name selection committee.

This is the third year that Monty and Rose, the famous Piping Plover pair, have raised young at Montrose Beach in Chicago after an absence of over 70 years. Piping Plovers are federally and state endangered birds found on Great Lakes beaches with only some 70 pairs remaining in the wild.

Members of the press are welcome to participate by watching Facebook live or attend the beachside ceremony.
